Raspberry Dot Collection

Raspberry Dot Collection

Introducing “Raspberry Dot” to our collection of baby bedding. It’s different, it’s fun and great for a baby girl’s nursery.  It is created by Nina Selby who designs sophisticated, quality baby bedding.  She always puts finest quality material and it is made in the USA.The Raspberry Dot set has wonderful color texture in cream, chocolate, and bright Raspberry Dot. Patched, sectional bumper with Raspberry Dot back. Sheet in soft minky. Bed skirt in Raspberry stylized animal print. Coverlet in faux rabbit skin with minky back.  My suggestion for paint colors for the nursery would be creams and browns to accent the bedding.  If you just happen to have hardwood floors in the nursery this bedding set would look great in there.

There are many accessories to compliment the bedding set.  Also available is the Raspberry Dot Complete 8 Piece Nursery. which includes the bumper, bed skirt, coverlet, sheet, diaper stacker, hamper, toy bag and one valance.  It’s a great deal bundled in to one and you save money.

When deciding on colours for your nursery decor what comes to mind?  I have two girls and if I were to do it all over again I would choose pink and brown colours.  I really like this combination.  If you are not a real girly girl and not into pink and white ruffles then these are the perfect combination of colours.

You can find pink and brown baby bedding in many styles and themes.  It comes in stripes, polka dots, checks, flowered etc.  All sorts of accessories are also available that match the crib sets.  You can purchase window valances, musical mobiles, diaper stackers, toy bags, hamper sets, frame sets and matching decorative pillows to go with your pink and brown bedding.   Decorating made easy.

Old Dresser To New Change Table

Dragon Fly II 4 Piece Crib Bedding by Cotton TaleI just found out a great way to change an old dresser into a new change table for your nursery.  It’s easy and affordable.  Take an old dresser you have or try to find an old dresser for sale in your area.  Paint the dresser completely white and then add any accent colours you want that complement your baby bedding decor.  If you are using sage green in the baby’s room then paint the drawers sage green.  Next purchase new hardware and replace the old existing hardware on the dresser.  Now you can take the dresser and turn it into a baby change table by simply placing a change pad on top and placing a basket full of baby toiletries next to the change pad.  After the baby outgrows the change table or you no longer need the change table you can use it as a dresser in the room.  You accent your new dresser/change table with nursery accessories that match your bedding decor.

Storage Caddy Keeps you Organized

Max Storage CaddyWhether its your new nursery or any other aspect of your home or life, being organized is essential to feeling grounded and relaxed.    Living in an organized and clutter free environment just seems to promote a feeling of calmness and peace.   A valuable lesson that I learned from my days working in a manufacturing environment is “…everything in its place and a place for everything…”   This is so true.  There is nothing more frustrating when you are in a rush and you need to get something done fast but the tool you are looking for is not in its designated place because the last time you used it you just left it wherever you may have been instead of in its proper place.

Anyway, Trend lab to the resue!  The have just come up with these adorable storage caddies which are useful as diaper caddies which would hold diapers, wipes and more or as a craft caddy for all your scrapbooking tools.  Many different colors and style are available at OurBabyBedding.com and the one pictured here is from the popular Max baby boy bedding collection.

Don’t forget the Rocking Chair

rocking-chairWhen you are shopping for nursery bedding and decor,  you will see many photos of beautiful nurseries showing off a particular baby bedding set and the matching accessories.  One thing that you don’t see much of in these photos is the rocking chair or glider for mom or dad to use when feeding or rocking baby to sleep.    This is an important part of the nursery that sometimes can be overlooked in the initial planning stages.  When we set up our nursery, we received an beautiful glider with ottoman from my parents and we really found that it was an absolute necessity.  It was so comfy that there were quite a few nights that my wife or I fell asleep in the chair itself.    Our friends opted to go with the traditional rocking chair and they actually purchased some material that matched the crib bedding to make a matching cushion for the chair.

Make sure that when you place the chair in the nursery that it is not too close to any of the walls.  We learned the hard way and now we have a nice little dent in one of the walls caused by rocking the chair to close to the wall.    Also, remember to be very careful when rocking in the chair if you have small pets that may be crawling around the nursery.  A loud screech from the family cat while the baby is sleeping is not good.

Nantucket Baby Bedding

Nantucket Blue by Trend LabSummer is almost here and our thoughts are starting to drift towards summer vacation with the kids.   Our last 3 vacations have been a blast but at the same time very hectic and not very relaxing.   I love the place but Disney World with 2 kids can be one of those proverbial “I need a vacation after my vacation” vacations.  We last went during March break of 2009.. bad idea.  I love Epcot but on the day we were there during March break we could not even get a bite to eat without waiting 20-30 minutes in line.  We even had to wait 10 minutes in line just for a bottle of water.

Anyway, one of our new Trend Lab baby bedding sets gave me an idea for this year’s summer vacation.   How about a relaxing vacation in a charming seaside beach house?   That is the feeling I get when I look at either the Nantucket Blue or Pink from Trend Lab.  Why not give your nursery that laid back feel of a New England beach house?  Can’t you just feel the cool ocean breeze rustling through the window shades as your little angel takes his/her afternoon nap?

For anyone looking for twins baby bedding, these two Nantucket sets are a nice choice for that laid back New England feel.  I think that if you have twins, a relaxed vibe in the nursery would probably be well received.

The Ferrari Nursery

Over the weekend we had both the Indianapolis 500 and the Monaco Grand Prix and it was a great weekend for race fans.  A good friend of ours is a huge fan of Formula One racing and specifically the Ferrari team.  When he and his wife had their first baby, they actually decorated the nursery in the Ferrari color scheme which is red, yellow, and black.  This is not your typical cute and sweet baby nursery but I have to admit it did look pretty cool as far as a baby boy nursery goes.  They used a black crib with bright red baby boy bedding.  The walls were painted Ferrari red and the window frames and baseboards were done in black paint.  Now to lighten up the room a bit, they used Ferrari yellow for the light switch and electrical socket covers.  Of course you can’t have a Ferrari nursery without some Ferrari’s in there.  They added some Ferrari art work on the walls and Ferrari model cars on the dresser.    It really would have been neat if they could have found a mobile with little Ferrari’s but they had to settle for a mobile with regular cars.

I think that dad spends more time in there than either mom or baby!  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they had a girl.  Possibly the next Danica Patrick!

Wall Flowers for the Nursery

wallflowersTheses wall flowers are a great idea to keep you within your nursery decorating budget but at the same time getting the art and decor you are looking for at a very affordable price.  We all start out having grand plans for the nursery but sometimes life throws you a curve and you are forced to start looking around for ways to save money.  Luckily there are countless ways to add some style and art to your new nursery at very reasonable prices.    The set comes with 25 polypropylene flowers that have embedded magnets allowing them to mount with a simple tack or magnet.   They are available at one of my favourite online stores - Delight.com.  Keep in mind that these flowers can be painted as well to match any theme that you decide to choose.

I would like to recommend some baby girl crib bedding that I think would look great in a nursery decorated with these cute wall flowers.  The following sets and many others are available at OurBabyBedding.com:

- Beach Cottage by Cottontale Designs

- MiGi Sweet by BananaFish

- Darling Daisy by Trend Lab

This post is in contrast to my post from yesterday.   Yesterday I blogged about movable wall murals by Three Little Ziglets that are simply beautiful but at the other end of the spectrum when it comes to the financial aspects of decorating your nursery.  In other words, they are a much more expensive idea.

Cute Wall Art for your Nursery

Paradise Wall Art by Cottontale DesignsCottontale Designs has a nice collection of nursery wall art to match many of their baby bedding collections.  These cute pieces can also be purchased separately and perhaps matched with a baby bedding set that you already have.  The selection of wall art themes ranges from animal to floral to cars to boats and more.   I really like the whimsical Paradise 1 piece wall art with a collection of jungle animals set amid jungle foliage.  These art collections from Cottontale Designs are available in either 1,2 or 3 piece sets at OurBabyBedding.com.    If you have extra room in your nursery decorating budget, beautiful artwork can really complete the nursery like nothing else.

For your baby’s safety, remember that when placing wall art above the crib be sure to pull the crib a couple of inches away from the wall just incase the wall hanging falls.   Visit homesafetycouncil.org for more nursery safety tips.
