When deciding on colours for your nursery decor what comes to mind?  I have two girls and if I were to do it all over again I would choose pink and brown colours.  I really like this combination.  If you are not a real girly girl and not into pink and white ruffles then these are the perfect combination of colours.

You can find pink and brown baby bedding in many styles and themes.  It comes in stripes, polka dots, checks, flowered etc.  All sorts of accessories are also available that match the crib sets.  You can purchase window valances, musical mobiles, diaper stackers, toy bags, hamper sets, frame sets and matching decorative pillows to go with your pink and brown bedding.   Decorating made easy.

Baby Room Colours

Versailles Crib Set by Trend LabThere are few things we need to know about baby room colours. The colour or colors you choose define the mood and are therefore important to setting the overall ambiance of the nursery room for the baby. The baby room colours you choose can stimulate or soothe your senses and make for a more enjoyable baby room.

A few things to note is that when a baby is born he/she has limited color perception. They can only see colors that are in high contrast to each other, for example black and white. Hence many newborns and young infant toys contain this color contrast. If you want to follow this colour scheme a good choice in baby bedding would be the Versaille Black and White Crib Set by Trend Lab. It is an adorable neutral baby bedding set and a great choice for anyone looking for black and white baby bedding.

Old Dresser To New Change Table

Dragon Fly II 4 Piece Crib Bedding by Cotton TaleI just found out a great way to change an old dresser into a new change table for your nursery.  It’s easy and affordable.  Take an old dresser you have or try to find an old dresser for sale in your area.  Paint the dresser completely white and then add any accent colours you want that complement your baby bedding decor.  If you are using sage green in the baby’s room then paint the drawers sage green.  Next purchase new hardware and replace the old existing hardware on the dresser.  Now you can take the dresser and turn it into a baby change table by simply placing a change pad on top and placing a basket full of baby toiletries next to the change pad.  After the baby outgrows the change table or you no longer need the change table you can use it as a dresser in the room.  You accent your new dresser/change table with nursery accessories that match your bedding decor.

Don’t forget the musical mobile

When it comes to nursery accessories, most of what new moms buy are related to decorating the nursery or helping to organize it better.  I am talking about things like diaper stackers, hampers, and window valances.  There is one accessory that is strickly for your new baby and that is the musical mobile.

The main reason for a musical mobile is to visually stimulate your newborn.  Recent research suggests that babies with many things to look at develop many neural connections in the brain and at a much higher rate.  This type of activity is critical for proper brain development in newborns.   Also, keep in mind that newborn babies focus best at a distance of about 12 inches or so.  Hanging the mobile at this distance will give the baby maximum visual stimulation.

The thing about musical mobiles is that they usually have the cutest things hanging from then.   The baby doesn’t really care what is hanging from them as long as they see the vivid colors in motion.  Usually, most new moms will simply pick the mobile that matches the baby bedding set that they have chosen.  Examples of some items that you will find hanging from mobiles include, teddy bears, sailboats, birds, flowers, sheep, hearts, etc…

So remember….don’t forget the mobile!

Paige by Glenna JeanWhen it comes to girl baby bedding, one of my absolute favorites is the Paige collection by Glenna Jean.  When I enlarge the photo to the right and take a look at this set up close, two words come to mind….Stunningly Beautiful!.    I am left speechless.. this set is absolutely gorgeous.   I just love the combination of pink and white for a baby girl.   The double ruffles on the quilt and the pillows along with the pink plaid really do add to the feminine appeal of the Paige collection.  Take a look at the diaper stacker and the cute rug as well.  I know I sound like a broken record but every piece of this collection is just beautiful.

My little girl is 7 now and when she was born we decided to go with a neutral theme and decorated her nursery with a Noah’s Ark collection by Kids Line.  We were not in the baby bedding business at that time and we just were not aware of the beautiful products out there.    We are not planning on having anymore kids but if we had another baby girl, I think you know which set I would choose.

Dr. Seuss Baby BeddingI love reading Dr. Seuss books to my 3 year old and my 7 year old.   Sometimes I think that I enjoy it even more than my kids do.  My favorite book from Dr. Seuss is called “Oh See can you Say”.   It is a hilarious collection of tongue twisters that are just a blast to read.  Of course the classics like Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham are fun as well.   The creativity in those books is just amazing and it is easy to see why they are so popular.

We are very excited to announce that Trend Lab Baby Bedding is coming out with a line of Dr. Seuss crib bedding sets.  The first set which is due to come out around September 30 is the Dr. Seuss ABC nursery collection.

The classic book’s Icabod and Izzy characters are highlighted in the center alongside ABC letters embroidered on white mini-waffle pique. The rich colors include a mango orange, avocado green, cornflower blue, barn red  and chocolate brown. Bold dots, variegated stripes, and a whimsical alphabet and character scatter-print bring a fun Dr. Seuss classic to life.

Watch for it soon at OurBabyBedding.com.

Poppy by Cottontale DesignsAnyone shopping for baby bedding online or in brick and mortar stores will undoubtedly come across the name Nina Selby.  The reason I am writing this post is because over the past couple of weeks, we have been asked about Nina Selby about 3 or 4 times.

Nina Selby is the founder of Cottontale Designs, a very popular baby bedding manufacturer.   From the onset of her company in 1990, Nina has always been an innovator and always on the leading edge of crib bedding and nursery decor.   She has adapted and created products that  now have become standard with many bedding manufacturers.

Nina’s inspiration comes from her passion for natural beauty.  This is evident with sets such as Poppy, Artic Babies, and Elephant Brigade.    She currently designs two separate lines, Cottontale Designs and N Selby designs.  The Cottontale line is currently available at OurBabyBedding.com and the N Selby line is coming soon.

Playpen Covers

I was recently watching this new show called The Shark Tank which is a reality type show where entrepreneurs and inventors present their ideas in front of 5 millioniare investors.  On this particular episode, the women appeared on the show to try to get an investment to expand their business.  They had invented and patented a removable type of slip cover for a playpen or play yard.  They actually had a playpen on the show and demonstrated how dirty they can get by dumping milk and dirty diapers inside.  With us being in the crib bedding business, this really caught our attention.  It really is a great idea because it does not only cover the inside bottom of the playpen but it completely wraps around the entire playpen so it protects the walls as well.  All you do when it is dirty is you remove it and throw it in the wash.

I guess they already have a contract to sell them at Target across the country and I believe that one of the investors agreed to give them $400,000 for a 40% stake in the company. The name of the company is CoverPlay.

I am sure that this invention will make lives easier for many new moms.
